Our Process

How we consistently deliver excellent project outcomes.

We believe that collaboration and open communication are the foundation of successful projects.

Our process breaks down barriers between the designer, the builder, and the people who will actually use the building. The team works together to establish a shared vision of success. Everyone is free to contribute their best ideas at the right time, when they have the greatest chance of improving the project. This eases the fits, starts, and frustrations that often come with complex building projects. When team members are collaborating actively, they can validate ideas, give immediate feedback, and hold each other accountable to the project vision along the way.

The result is projects that cost less, are delivered faster, and with a higher level of quality. Our process delivers better relationships and better buildings.

Project Planning

Project Planning

The nature of work is changing - and Momentum is no exception. We’ve built a revolutionary project management process around cutting edge tools that allows us to capture every detail of a project and ensure that nothing slips through the cracks. And this process is driven by our team of industry-leading project managers. They break down a project into the smallest units of work and build out tasks and schedules with dependencies - with full client transparency. Everything that we know, you’ll know as well.

Strategic Alignment

Strategic Alignment

One of the most critical steps in the beginning of a project is gathering all of the stakeholders and aligning them around a common goal. With multiple teams, external partners, and competing requirements, this can be a difficult task. This is why we kick off every project with an alignment session, a meeting focused on uncovering and prioritizing the requirements and objectives of each stakeholder and organizing them in a way that guides every project participant forward towards a common goal.

Design Management

Design Management

The design of a branch or workplace doesn’t happen in a vacuum, at Momentum we believe that this must be a fundamentally collaborative process. We kick off our projects with a charrette - a live collaborative session led by our design team that culminates in a conceptual design. Our design team uses an iterative process where they work together with our clients, architectural partners, project management team, and subcontractors to ensure that not only is the design delivering on your vision, but also that it is constructible and on-budget.

Partner Integration

Partner Integration

When people are integrated into a project is critical to a project's success, so we bring stakeholders and partners on board when they have the greatest impact.

There’s a concept in construction called the McLeamy Curve. The later in a project, the more expensive and difficult it is to make changes. By bringing in client stakeholders at the beginning, and integrating vendors and subcontractors early on, we are able to identify problems and risks in a project when they are easiest to mitigate.

Local Procurement

Local Procurement

Procuring labor and materials is where the biggest risks are introduced into a project, especially in the post-2020 era with the industry plagued with shortages. We use a value-based selection process that combines cost, expertise, reliability, fit, and, most importantly, risk profile and capability to deliver. A big part of this is sourcing locally - local skilled labor, steel shops, lumber yards, and other suppliers are vital partners in all of our projects. And they help us reinvest an average of 85% of a project’s value back into the local community.

Design Build Construction

Design Build Construction

Following through on a plan can be more challenging than putting the plan together, but our project managers and site superintendents follow a proven process built around cutting-edge project management and site monitoring technology to ensure that every stakeholder requirement is met and no detail falls through the cracks. They collaborate with the design team to deliver built environments that are indistinguishable from the design renderings.
